Graduation Dinner Brisbane — Celebrate Near South Bank
Poppies Southbank is 400m from the BCEC and 700m from The Star — the closest full-service restaurant to Brisbane's main graduation venues. Open from 6:15am for pre-ceremony breakfasts through to dinner.
The practical choice
Where to Eat After Graduation Near the BCEC and The Star
Graduation days are long. By the time the ceremony ends, the photos are done, and the family has reassembled outside the BCEC or The Star, everyone is ready to sit down. Poppies is 400 metres from the BCEC and 700 metres from The Star — a short walk in either direction.
We open at 6:15am on weekdays and 7am on weekends. Many QUT and BCEC ceremonies start at 9:30am, which means families often want breakfast beforehand — we're set up for that. Our alfresco terrace on Little Stanley Street is a natural spot for graduation photos, and the South Bank Parklands are right there if you want to extend the day.
Graduation groups are destination diners — they've planned the occasion, often with family flying in from interstate or overseas. We take that seriously. Book ahead: graduation days fill up fast, and we recommend 2–3 weeks' notice.

Graduation Lunch, Dinner, or Breakfast — We've Got You
Our full menu runs from 6:15am through to close. Pre-ceremony breakfast before a 9:30am QUT ceremony at The Star? We're open. Post-ceremony lunch after a Griffith or UQ ceremony at the BCEC? We're set up for it. Evening dinner with cocktails to cap off the day? That too.
For graduation groups, our share plates are the right call — generous, social, and easy to order for a table with mixed tastes. The Eggs Benedict is a South Bank institution for morning celebrations. Our pasta and mains are the sit-down dinner option.
Our alfresco terrace on Little Stanley Street is the spot for graduation photos. The outdoor setting, the South Bank Parklands backdrop, and the easy walk from both venues make it a natural choice.
